Description
Acer platanoides ‘Globosum’ is a deciduous cultivar characterized by its green leaves that turn a beautiful yellow or orange in the autumn. It has a dense, rounded, globe-shaped growth habit, making it an excellent choice for courtyards or plazas. This cultivar is easy to transplant and can adapt to a range of soil conditions, including damp, well-drained, dry sites with occasional drought, and wet areas with sporadic flooding. Acer platanoides ‘Globosum’ was first documented in the 1873 catalogue of Louis van Houtte’s nursery in Gentbrugge near Ghent, Belgium, and was recorded in North America by 1896.
