Description
Jack Humm’ (Malus) is a rounded, deciduous crabapple cultivar developed in New Zealand through a hybridisation of Malus ‘Gorgeous’ and Malus ‘John Downie’. It’s not native to New Zealand.
In mid-spring, this tree bursts forth with masses of white blossoms from red buds. It’s renowned for its abundant crops of brilliantly colored crabapples in autumn, which are bright-crimson, flushed with yellow and orange. These fruit are excellent for making jelly. ‘Jack Humm’ is also self-fertile, meaning it doesn’t need another tree for pollination to produce fruit.
