Description
Gorgeous’ (Malus) is a round-headed, deciduous crabapple cultivar, not native to New Zealand, that was raised by Hayward Wright in Auckland, New Zealand, and introduced in 1925. It’s a hybrid between Malus x zumi and Malus halliana.
In spring, its branches are adorned with white blossoms. Come autumn, ‘Gorgeous’ lives up to its name, producing spectacular crops of bright crimson-red fruit that hang like cherries on long, thin stalks. These crabapples are ideal for making superb jelly.
