Description

The ‘Liberty’ apple cultivar, developed in 1955 by the New York State Agricultural Experiment Station in Geneva, New York, USA, and released commercially in 1978, is an excellent choice for organic growers due to its high resistance to black spot disease, requiring minimal spraying.

In spring, ‘Liberty’ trees produce pink buds that develop into white flowers. From mid to late autumn, they yield a heavy crop of fruit with a red blush and a crisp, juicy, sweet-tart flavor. While ‘Liberty’ is self-fertile, planting it with early-flowering cultivars like ‘Braeburn’ is recommended for optimal fruit production. The fruit also boasts excellent keeping qualities.
