Description
Spire’ is a deciduous cherry hybrid (Prunus x hillieri ‘Spire’) known for its densely-branched, narrow, upright form and smaller leaves. In early spring, it becomes covered in a cloud of dainty white to soft-pink blossoms. Its green leaves turn attractive shades of red and orange in autumn. This cultivar is ideal for narrow spaces and lining driveways, and it also makes an excellent street tree. ‘Spire’ is a hybrid between Prunus incisa and Prunus sargentii and was developed in the United Kingdom in the 1920s, being introduced in 1956.
