Description
Betula costata, also known as the Korean Birch, is a deciduous tree admired for its ornamental bark and foliage. The bark is a notable feature, peeling in layers to reveal a beautiful combination of cream-white tones with underlying pink-orange hues. This medium-sized tree has an upright growth habit and is characterized by its bright green leaves with distinct veining. In autumn, the foliage transforms into a vibrant golden yellow before falling. While aesthetically pleasing, Betula costata is not tolerant of drought conditions and requires consistent moisture, especially when young. It is native to Korea and the Russian Far East.
