Description
The ‘Autumn Glory’ red maple (Acer rubrum ‘Autumn Glory’) is a deciduous tree prized for its vibrant autumn display, where deep-green summer leaves transform into brilliant orange to red hues. It features a compact, upright growth habit and is known for its quick growth rate, making it an excellent choice as a street tree. This cultivar also demonstrates tolerance for poor soils. In early to mid-spring, it produces small, red flowers. While it thrives in moist, well-drained soil and full sun, it is also adaptable to a range of soil types, including sandy, heavy clay, peat, dry, and poorly draining soils. Additionally, ‘Autumn Glory’ is cold-hardy and tolerant of windy conditions. It was introduced in 1961.
