Description
Betula populifolia ‘Whitespire’ is a deciduous cultivar with a slender, upright growth habit, making it an excellent selection for street plantings, avenues, or smaller spaces. A key ornamental feature is its brilliant white bark, which develops from the base of the tree and remains prominent even as it matures. In the fall, its leaves transform into a lovely yellow hue. Betula populifolia ‘Whitespire’ was selected and introduced in 1983 by Edward R. Hasselkus of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
