Description
Leptospermum scoparium—mānuka—forms a rapid, rugged screen or shelter, thriving in hot, dry soils as readily as it weathers cold snaps. Each spring, the shrubs disappear beneath a snowstorm of single white flowers teeming with honey-seeking bees, and the evergreen, fragrant foliage keeps structure and scent in the garden year-round. Native to Aotearoa New Zealand and to Australia’s New South Wales, Tasmania, and Victoria, this resilient species offers both protection and seasonal spectacle with little effort.
