Description
Leptospermum scoparium ‘Crimson Glory’—a mānuka cultivar raised by E. F. Jenkins & Sons in Cranbourne South, Victoria (mid–late 20ᵗʰ century)—bursts into late-winter and spring with masses of double, velvet-crimson blooms, lighting up the garden when colour is scarce. Fresh growth emerges red-purple before deepening to lush green, setting off the flowers to striking effect. Evergreen and derived from a species native to Aotearoa New Zealand and south-eastern Australia, ‘Crimson Glory’ brings year-round structure and a cool-season spectacle with little demand on the gardener.
