Description
Magnolia ‘Star Wars’ is a deciduous hybrid that produces striking rich purple-pink flowers with pale-pink interiors, which appear before or alongside the new spring foliage. The blooms typically reach a width of 15cm but can occasionally grow up to 28cm. This cultivar is known for its early spring flowering, commencing at a young age and continuing for an extended period of six to eight weeks. It may also exhibit a secondary bloom period in the summer. Magnolia ‘Star Wars’ has an upright, bushy, and compact growth habit, making it an excellent choice for a street tree. It is a cross between Magnolia campbellii and Magnolia liliiflora and was developed in the 1970s by Oswald Blumhardt.
