Description

The ‘Initial’ apple cultivar, developed before 2003 by the Institut National de la Recherche Agronomique (INRA) in France (PVR 2710), is known for its large red fruit with excellent flavor, characterized by low acidity, high sugar content, and a strong aroma. This variety also boasts high resistance to black spot disease.

In spring, ‘Initial’ trees display pink buds that open into white flowers. The fruit ripens from late summer to early autumn. For proper pollination, ‘Initial’ requires cross-pollination from other cultivars such as ‘Gala’, ‘Golden Delicious’, ‘Granny Smith’, ‘Monty’s Surprise’, and ‘Royal Gala’.
