Description
‘Shimidsu-sakura’ is a particularly lovely Japanese flowering cherry (Prunus serrulata ‘Shimidsu-sakura’) that develops into a broad-spreading tree with gracefully arching branches. In mid to late-spring, it produces double flowers that undergo a beautiful colour transformation: starting as pink buds, they open into pale-pink blooms and eventually fade to white. These flowers are borne in pendulous clusters, creating a soft and delicate appearance. Autumn brings a display of orange and red foliage. This cultivar originated in Japan in the 19th century.
