Description
Blireiana’ is a beautiful deciduous hybrid plum (Prunus x blireiana) renowned for its profuse display of fragrant, rose-pink, double blossoms from late winter to early spring. Its rich purple leaves emerge after the flowers and maintain their striking colour throughout the summer until they fall in autumn. This cultivar is well-suited for smaller gardens and makes an excellent street tree. It is a hybrid between Prunus mume and the purple-leaved form of cherry plum, Prunus cerasifera ‘Atropurpurea’ (also known as Prunus cerasifera ‘Pissardii’), and was developed in France, being introduced to commerce in 1906.
